Small Group Coaching
There's something that happens when people make music together that simply doesn't happen alone. An energy, a motivation, a sense of shared purpose that pushes everyone forward in ways that individual work can't always replicate.
Small group coaching sits at the heart of what The Sound Engine is about - it's where the personal focus of one-to-one tuition meets the collective joy of community music making. It's intimate enough that nobody gets lost, and social enough that everyone lifts each other up.
Sessions are available for pre-formed groups of up to four people, with a focus on singing. No musical background needed - just a willingness to give it a go, and a group of people ready to enjoy it together.
Why Work in a Small Group
One-to-one tuition is brilliant for deep, focused individual work. Choirs are wonderful for the full experience of community music making. Small group coaching offers something beautifully in between.
In a small group, you still receive individual attention and a personalised approach - Caroline works with each person's voice and development within every session.
But you also benefit from something that individual lessons can't offer: the experience of making music with other people.
Learning alongside others builds a different kind of confidence. You hear how others approach the same challenges. You encourage each other through moments of uncertainty. You celebrate progress together.

How Group Coaching Works
Sessions run for either half an hour or one hour, in Caroline's studio in Christchurch. The atmosphere is relaxed and encouraging - structured enough that everyone makes real progress, informal enough that it genuinely feels enjoyable.
Caroline shapes each session around your group - your combined goals, your individual starting points, and the music you're working on together. No two groups are the same, and that's exactly the point.
One important thing to note: groups need to come ready-formed. If you have a group of friends, family members or colleagues who want to learn together, brilliant - that's exactly what this is designed for. If you're looking for individual tuition, the 1:1 route is the one for you.
