The Choir Engine (Youth)
For young singers who love music but are struggling to find the right space to develop their voice - this is where you belong.
The Choir Engine (Youth) is a friendly, auditioned choir for singers aged 10 to 16. It exists because we know how hard it can be for young people to find genuine, structured opportunities to grow as vocalists - opportunities that take their talent seriously without losing the warmth and enjoyment that makes music worth doing in the first place.
This is a small choir - a maximum of 20 members - which means every young singer gets real attention, real development and a real sense of belonging. Places are limited, and the experience is all the richer for it.

Joining the Choir Engine (Youth) is about far more than learning to sing. It's about building the kind of confidence, discipline and self-expression that shapes a young person - in music and well beyond it.
Members of the Choir Engine (Youth) develop:
Vocal technique
Building real skills in a structured, age-appropriate environment
Confidence
Performing off book, in front of audiences, in solo and ensemble settings
Musical literacy
Singers are encouraged to read from sheet music, though lyrics are always available where appropriate
Expression and stagecraft
With elements of movement and acting woven into the programme

A genuine community of like-minded young musicians who share the same passion
And as part of the wider Choir Engine community, our young singers don't exist in isolation. They are part of something bigger - with all the warmth, ambition and sense of purpose that brings.
What Are Rehearsals Like?
Rehearsals are structured, focused and specifically designed to be appropriate for the age group - but they're also relaxed, encouraging and genuinely enjoyable. We work hard, and we have fun doing it.
Our audition process is deliberately informal and low pressure - it's simply a chance for us to meet your young singer, hear them sing, and make sure we're the right fit for each other.
Every rehearsal is built around learning - not just the music, but the vocal techniques and performance skills that will serve our singers for life. Sessions are designed to challenge without overwhelming, to stretch without pressuring, and to make every member feel valued for exactly what they bring.
Attitude and commitment to learning are the qualities we value most. You don't need to be the most talented singer in the room - you just need to want to be there and be willing to give it everything.
All performances are delivered off book - without sheet music - which is a real achievement for any young singer, and one that builds enormous performance confidence over time.
Rehearsals take place on Thursdays during term time from 6pm-7pm at Durlston Court School.
The Choir Engine Community
One of the most special things about the Choir Engine (Youth) is that it doesn't exist in isolation. Our young singers are part of the wider Choir Engine community - and that brings with it a richness of experience that a standalone youth choir simply can't offer.
Choir Engine (Youth) members take part in joint events and fundraising activities alongside the adult Choir Engine, and come together for competitions such as the New Milton Music Festival.
These shared experiences - performing alongside adults, contributing to charitable causes, representing the Choir Engine in the wider community - are genuinely formative for young people, and something our members and their families value enormously.
Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of every young person in our care is our absolute priority.
Caroline holds an Enhanced DBS certificate and operates in full accordance with current safeguarding legislation and best practice. A full safeguarding policy is available on request.

Pricing
Membership of the Choir Engine (Youth) is structured around a simple monthly fee, plus a one-off joining fee when you come on board.
